Outline
achieve

Research has found that mindfulness can support wellbeing, improve personal effectiveness and enhance our coping ability.

It's been shown to improve focus along with a range of cognitive skills. Even brief periods of mindfulness can increase working memory, comprehension scores, reaction times and decision-making.

Mindfulness has been proven to impact all aspects of our lives from better communication to less stress and more resilience.

If you have yet to discover the benefits of being mindful then this course is for you.

Bring Mindfulness to Life

6 week course

Starting 1 February 2024

The course is based on an NHS-approved mindfulness course developed by the Oxford Mindfulness Centre that has been specifically designed for non-clinical settings.

The evidence-led programme combines psycho-education, mindfulness theory, regular practice and experiential insight to increase self-knowledge, awareness and management.

Course format

In just six sessions via MS Teams, you will gain all you need to begin to benefit from being mindful.

The programme is designed so that each session builds on learning from previous ones. By the end, you will understand what mindfulness is and how to use it in daily life.

Each week you will learn about a different aspect of mindfulness, psychological principles and neuroscience research findings to help you to better understand the workings of your mind and how to bring mindfulness to life.

Each session includes meditation practices and discussion so you feel confident using your new skill.

Learning outcomes

This course is the first step in using mindfulness to deal more skillfully with whatever life presents.

After just 6 sessions, you will...

  • Have new ways to manage challenging situations and difficult feelings

  • Be more present with yourself, others and life in general

  • Have increased self-awareness so that you begin to act from choice

  • Have increased body awareness so you can better self-regulate

  • Connect and communicate differently with people around you

  • Enjoy greater attentional control so that you are less distracted

  • Know powerful mindfulness practices to support your wellbeing

  • Understand general mindfulness concepts

  • Model a non-judging, open-minded approach

  • Likely to have established or deepened a meditation practice

Duration

So that your capacity to be mindful increases over time, the course is delivered in six modules with a different attention exercise (meditation) taught each time and practised for a week.

The next course starts on  Thursday 11 April, 2024 and runs over six weekly sessions.

Your investment

Of course there is a training fee (£280*) but there is also your commitment to attending the weekly 90 minute session and doing the formal and informal practice outside of class (totals about 30 mins/day).

The practice is key. It rewires your brain so that increasingly you are better able to pay attention to your moment to moment experience and all the benefits that brings.

If you cannot currently commit to regular practice then this course may not be for you right now.
